New York Cooper Union School of Art - May 2023

EMPTY was created during my stay at the Cooper Union School of Art. It's an site-specific installation designed for the seventh floor of the main building.

 

EMTY consists of three separate elements:

The first element includes a figurative motif expressed through a combination of wax sculpture and charcoal drawing. The sculpture and drawing create a contrast between dimensions and presence in space.

The second element presents an interactive virtual space projected onto a CRT television. Viewers are given the opportunity to experience an emptied space amidst a bustling vernissage.

The third element is a 16mm film reel continuously projecting a short animation of spatial navigation.

Overall, this installation serves as a study of space and its perception within the contemporary art environment.
